*Peter S. Cunningham was
appointed director of the state Commerce
Department's International Trade Division,
effective June 21. State Commerce Secretary Rick
Carlisle said "Peter has a long history of
accomplishments and experience in the international
trade arena, and I know he will bring his
expertise and commitment to this position."
Cunningham previously served in a similar
capacity over a period of 11 years in the states
of Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nevada. In his most
recent position, Cunningham worked on the staff
of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge to develop a
comprehensive interagency plan for the states
approach to international trade issues. The
International Trade Division operates foreign
offices in Frankfurt, Germany; Tokyo, Japan; Hong
Kong; Toronto, Canada and Mexico City, Mexico.

Gov. Jim Hunt has reappointed three members to
the board of trustees of the Teachers' and State
Employees' Retirement. They are Kevin G.
Harris, Leigh S. Wilson
and Paschal W. Swann. All would
serve terms that expire on March 31, 2004. Their
reappointments are subject to confirmation by the
Senate
