e believe most business people want to comply with all the complex federal and state laws governing the workplace. Knowing how is another matter, though. That's why we're offering our upcoming seminars on "Making Workplace Law Work for You.

The seminars will get you up to speed on the latest developments in eight critical areas of the law, including:  Wage and Hour Issues

Here's the schedule: Oct. 28 in the Triad at the Grandover Resort, Oct. 29 in the Triangle at the North Raleigh Hilton, Nov. 9 in Charlotte at the Hilton Charlotte Executive Park, Nov. 10 in Asheville at the Grove Park Inn, Nov. 18 in Wrightsville Beach at the Blockade Runner, Nov. 19 in Greenville at the Hilton.

You'll receive continuing education credits toward professional license renewal. Attorneys: The N.C. State Bar Association has approved 4.5 hours of CLE credits. CPAs: The N.C. State Board of CPA Examiners has approved 6 hours of CPE credits. HR Professionals: The Human Resource Certification Institute has approved 6 hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification. 

Luncheon speakers include N.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice I. Beverly Lake Jr.; U.S. District Court judges Frank W. Bullock  Jr.,  James C. Fox, Graham C. Mullen and Richard L. Voorhees; and Magistrate Judge James C. Dever III.

The main presenters at the seminars will be Thomas A. Farr and Gretchen W. Ewalt, attorneys with Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart and co-authors of the book “The Employment and Labor Law Resource Guide,” and other attorneys with the firm. The book is written especially for small business owners, supervisors, personnel managers and the attorneys and CPAs who advise companies.

Cancellation Policy: If you register but are unable to attend, substitutions are welcome any time prior to the program date. If you must cancel your registration, a $30 processing fee will be charged. Cancellations must be made by 5 p.m. one week prior to the seminar you have registered to attend. After that date, registration fees will not be refunded or waived. No-shows will be charged the fill registration fee.
