Easley is expected to talks about his support for a state lottery and give the first details of his plan for solving the state's budget crisis during his address to a joint session of the House and Senate Monday evening . State Government Watch
Gov. Easley appoints 19 people to the State Board of Transportation, including NCCBI Board Member Nancy Dunn of Winston-Salem (left).  The provost at Florida A&M is appointed to succeed Julius Chambers as chancellor of N.C. Central University.

Federal Government Watch 
Senate Majority Leader Lott (R-MS) predicts there will be enough votes to pass President Bush's entire $1.6 trillion tax cut, despite the announced opposition of two GOP Senators.

About 400 members are expected to crowd into the McKimmon Center in Raleigh on Thursday to hear frank talk from state House and Senate leaders during NCCBI's annual Legislative Conference. The ever-popular Legislative Reception will be held Wednesday evening. It's not to late to register for the conference. Call us at 919-836-1400 to get registered, or send us an e-mail. 
Wall Street genius Julian Robertson of Tiger Management fame and Gov. Easley will be the keynote speakers at NCCBI's 59th Annual Meeting on March 21 in Raleigh.
